i have recently bought a new gateway and paid almost a m dollars, from the beginning we had trouble with pausing, stopping and over all poor performance, never thought it would be the hard drive and after several repairs and blogs noiw i know what the problem was,,, dont buy it |
2 drives both died within a month after use

I bought the first drive to replace my old 80gb hdd. After 3 weeks it stopped working after I ran the WD Lifeguard thing and saw it had bad sectors. So I bought another one dec. 12th. Sure enough exactly Jan 12th it froze and started to act up so I ran the Lifeguard tool again and poof what do ya know, more bad sectors.
Dont buy this drive! Good thing is I have 2 cool looking paper weights. |

Bought this drive about 10 months ago. Liked the price but its a bitter taste now that its completely useless. Windows started getting slow and kept pausing. Surface scan revealed unrecoverable sectors, the surface scan took 9 hours to run and only got 15% of the way through. Stopped it, pulled the drive out and did what I should of done... bought a quality name brand, not this cheap low end garbage that WD is pushing as good product. ALl my other drives have been running for years and I wont mention who they are from. Goodbye WD, luckily I was able to get my lightroom catalogs off this drive before I DOD'd it and smacked it with a hammer for the trash bin. |
