I bought the hard drive in summer of 2007 and it has been almost a year without much difficulty. The only thing that I am worried about is the power button because it is a button and not a switch. Besides that everything else is functional and it has kept everything that I have stored on it.
Something that you should know when buying an external hard-drive is the amount of data stored. It is going to say 500 gigs, but it is actually 465 gigs because of the amount of bytes.

I have had this device for barely 3 months before it stopped working. Went to LaCie website so I could contact tech support, there was no number. Finally, I had to submit a trouble ticket, which is the only way to get help. It took over a day to get an email response that suggested I unplug the device and restart the computer, try a different LaCie ac adapter, and try a different usb. I found this to be completely useless. It was all common sense and stuff that I had put in my trouble ticket, with the exception of a LaCie AC adapter, who has an extra one lying around? I respond immediately and it took another day to get a response. Finally after I expressed how dissatisfied I was they sent me a pdf authorizing me to ship it to them at my expense so they could fix it. I also found through researching their web site that these devices are not designed for PCs, you cannot download the drivers to reinstall if necessary unless you have a MAC or Windows 98. |
