I ordered a 46" LCD off another site before seeing this 50" for the same price, so I cancelled & ordered this one. Did you know Vizio is the only US-based TV maker? Also, they use Panasonic panels & Samsung mainboards... sounds good to me! My friend wanted to buy one, but they were sold out, hope he can get in on it now that they have a few more.

I have had this set for two weeks and am wonderfully satisfied with the unit. When I first hooked it up, I was using an old DirecTV TIVO unit that I have had for ten years and connecting it through the S-video jack. Even with a standard picture cut off on the left and right, the picture was great! Then I ordered a Dish Network HD receiver and ran it into the HDMI. OMG. What a picture! The first night we watched ''Wild China'' on the Nat. Geo. channel. It was looking through a window into China. The contrast and color is great. Plenty of connections. Nice illuminated remote. Super Deal! Tiger Direct comes through again for me!

First of all, it took for a week to deliver to my house and arrived 3 hours pass the latest time they said to be deliver (12 to 5). Anyway, I am somewhat disappointed at the color which the person face looks oversaturated and the white background seems to be dull. May be I got a bad apple. I need to verify with a new one to see if that is the case or maybe I used to watch Sony 65'' rear projector LCD TV. Other that, it looks very nice since it fit perfectly on my bedroom entertainment armoire and it works like a charm with my Vista MCE @ 1080p. It like to have 50 monitor since the text looks great at 1920x1080 unlike my brother Samsung LCD 46 LCD TV. However, it draw a lot of power since my UPS give a over power warning.

So glad I purchased this unit at the refurb price. Looks brand new, I don't believe this unit was ever used before. First time PLASMA buyer, I have had LCD before but this Plasma blows it away. Great buy.
What Is
High Definition And How Is It Different From Standard Definition?
High Definition or "HD" is a
technological leap forward from standard definition, with up to 6x the
picture resolution, so that what you see is sharper and more realistic. Regular TVs and the TV channels you watch
at home are typically in standard definition (unless you watch HD channels).
DVD are also in standard definition. Standard definition (480i & 480p)
is lower quality than high definition. Many older TV sets are standard
def, and can only show standard def content (programming). Many new
TVs are called High Definition TVs (HDTV). They are capable of showing
high def content in: 720p, 1080i, and 1080p, all high definition
formats, but 1080p provides the highest picture quality of them all. Click

About HDTV Viewing Angles
The Viewing Angle of any TV is an important specification. The wider
the viewing angle, the more enjoyable your experience. Viewing angles
above 150° means you can view your TV from a reasonable range - from the
front and off to the sides. However, viewing angles above 170° are
best! Many of today's Plasma and LCD HDTVs offer viewing angles of
178°, and their images do not suffer from degradation at very high viewing
angles. LCD TVs were originally designed for a one user
experience, as a computer monitor, but the technology has kept pace with the
demands for ever increasing viewing angles, and most offer excellent viewing
experiences. Between LCD and Plasma; Plasma TVs have the advantage,
but by a small margin.
Viewing angles are not an issue with
projectors because the light source is coming from in front of the screen,
and not from behind. However, the surface on which you project (screen or
wall surface) may have a slight impact on viewing angles, so it is important
to choose the best screen possible.
