I build a new system a couple months ago, and dropped in my WD 500GB drive in it to hold OS and software, and bought one of these 1TB drives to use as a source on the network to hold all the families files, videos, music, photos etc. It is whisper quiet, and works flawlessly for about 3 months now. I just ordered a 2nd one of these drives to RAID1 with the 1st one. I love WD drives, and being retired from IT will always use them over other drives. My old system I replaced was over 6 years old, and it had 6 drives in it that came from even older computers. Some of those drives were over 10 years old, and held old archived data for many years. All were ED drives. I have had other drives fail over the years, but do not remember any of my WD drives failing. Like I said, I just put them from one computer to the next one. On the last computer, I just decided to scrap all the old smaller WD drive. but, they still ran... Ya cant go wrong here. |

i just built a system with 3 WD Blue 1tb drives and you cant even hear them at all when the system is running. so far, so beautiful! |

Absolutely great product. Everyone who whines about receiving a little less than 1TB after formatting needs to suck it up. Who gives a damn if you're 1TB or 60MB under? You can hardly fit anything in those 60MB, maybe a another crap-quality ripped cd. And if you others bothered to read the specs, you'd know the drive doesn't always spin at 7200rpm, that's why it is GREEN. Blame your own ignorance. Stop whining and nit-picking and enjoy it for what it is. |

I bought this so i could put anything and everything on it. It does the job great. I love western digitals hard drives. I have had a 80gb WD hard drive for 11years now and it is still going. It is not very loud and does not get very hot. I do not like that people say formatted size may vary. They said that to me before buying. And It turned out i did not get the full 1tb i got 60mb less of 1tb. All are different i just wish it was over 1tb and not 60mb under |
