This surround sound unit is great. It also looks as if it commands attention. With my already-installed speakers, hook-up was simple. The instruction manual needs some work. |

I bought the receiver with the Klipsch HD500 Home Theater Speaker system as a package deal. This is my first surround sound system and so far I am very pleased with what I got.
Before buying, I was a bit skeptical on the receiver because there were lots of mixed reviews. I do agree that the manual is a bit lacking. It shows generic setups and menu trees but offers basically no troubleshooting help. I only ran into minor trouble setting up the unit. The manual doesn't explicitly state that the connection to the TV needs to match the input of the device you are connecting (eg If you connect a Blu-ray player to the receiver with an HDMI cable, you need an HDMI cable that runs between the TV and the receiver. Likewise, if your cable box connects to the receiver via component video cables, the picture will not display on the TV through the HDMI cable, you need to run a separate component video line from the receiver to the TV). System runs great now. |

by far an upgrade from my Kenwood 5.1 receiver and has much more clarity and signal response, only problem i have found is that the anynet doesn't turn it on when i turn on my samsung tv |

Read the manual carefully and you will have no trouble setting this up. It makes my Denon system pale in simplicity, features, and of course price.
Those people who complained about the manual not being good enough, well, I don't know what to say. I have a complex setup with 3 Component connections, SPDIF audio, HDMI and I have no trouble at all. I hand build amps and preamps with high end tubes and such for thousands of dollars. I have been a critic of Samsung in the past but this one is far beyond my expectations. For this price this is a lot of system |
