The terms refurbished and recertified are used interchangeable to describe products that were returned to their manufacturer, inspected, brought back to original manufacturer’s specification then tested and repackaged for sale. Some manufacturers refurbish products themselves and others use qualified third party partners. Refurbished products represent a great value and we offer them with confidence knowing that every refurbished product was tested at least twice, once when it was first manufactured and again during the refurbishing process. Refurbished products are warranted by either the original manufacturer or the manufacturer’s third party refurbisher. Warranty terms applicable to refurbished products may vary; see below for specific warranty information and consider purchasing an extended service plan if you desire even more coverage. Product shipped quickly, recieved in good condition, during setup it blue screened. Happened after each driver update. After over 30 blue screen crashes including in safe mode, determined it was bad hardware. I returned it the next day at my expense. It's back to Acer and e-Machines for me. Not impressed with Gateway, to say it nicely.

Received this yesterday, pluged it in and went to work. Excellent value, nice clean machine never would know it was a refurb. As far as TD goes I couldn't be happier with the service.

I purchased the PC at the Tiger Direct retail store. I should have checked into compatibility issues because several of the programs I need for our small business will NOT install, much less run, on a 64-bit system. This includes eFax, my Mustek scanner software, alamode WinTotal Athena, and others. I was told by the salesperson that legacy programs would run in Compatibility Mode using XP compatibility. Wrong. It just can't be done, if you can't even get the installation to run.
The OS restore CD included is for 32-bit.
I had to disable the UAC - it is extremely annoying.
The system is a bit noisy, sounds like a teakettle on a low temp (whistles).
I do like the speed, however. An Access database query that used to take several seconds to complete on my old PC is resolved almost instantly on the this system. The graphics are good, sound quality is very good. I've added several USB components with no problems. It would be a good machine for gaming and graphics.

I purchased this computer for the simple fact that it is a great price for what you get. I received it and set it up and within 3 hours of playing around with it it crashed and went to a blue screen. I didn't think much of it so i reset the computer and not 20 minutes later it did the same thing again. I dug through the box to find the system restore disk and found that it was intended for a 32 bit OS. The OS on this computer is a 64 bit. I called Gateway to have them ship a new restore disk. I received the disk 3 days later and restored the whole computer to it's factory default. I then started it up after all of that and it crashed again. I wrote down what the blue screen said and googled it. There have been many people that have had this exact problem. The people that were discussing it in the forums that I was reading said that it had to do with the AMD Phenom processor. I exchanged the faulty computer for a Gateway with an Intel Core 2 Quad. A faster & more dependable processo

Product shipped quickly, recieved in good condition, after setup while not even touching anything it crashed (blue screen) happened a couple more times while trying to get updated drivers. (figured that may fix it) after over 20 blue screen crashes or frozen screens (including in safe mode) called support waited 10 min to get Gateway, was then transferred to refurb unit and was waiting over an hour, gateway support was good and finally determined it was a hardware falure when they could not help so 1 hr 32 min for 5 min of assistance to decide it was dead. I have to return the product at my cost. Counting on Tiger to replace promptly. Read return policy before purchasing. Keep all packaging.
