I really enjoy this laptop. The HDMI is probably the greatest thing about it. Just plug it into basically any new tv and watch your movies right off of it. tiny remote that pops out of the side is very handy. everyone that sees this computer likes the bronze color along with the pattern that is in it. only gave it a 4 on quality cause one little piece of chrome trim lifted up on it. not a big deal at all. all in all if you want a great computer for every day use this will do you just fine. |

When I had to turn my old DV9000 in before leaving for a new job, I started looking for a new notebook and this caught my eye. The installed Vista ran very, very slow. Qualified for Win7 upgrade from HP which I did a clean install of, not the upgrade. Runs much, much faster. Runs cooler than my old notebook did. Miss not having built in Blue Tooth, but small nit for rest of features. Very happy with it (this is my fifth HP notebook). In power saver mode get over 3 hour battery life. Typical for 17 inch florescent display and I'm running two hard drives. |

I bought this laptop back in Octoober 2009... It works great. If you load Windows 7 on it it's extremely fast. It has 2 Hard Drive bays (1 free) so you can put another hard drive on it. Also the HD 3200 GPU is an integrated graphics card but don't mix it up with Intel IGPs, this GPU can run Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 at 1440x900 (the screen's native resolution) at High Settings No AA getting 20-60FPS and Far Cry 2 averaging 25-60FPS at 1280x768 resolution.
Also the design of the laptop is NICE.... Just one thing is the keys are somewhat big, too big. I mean it's great but sometimes it gets kinda uncomfortable... Also no Bluetooth but I barely use that feature (except for with my iPhone for internet tethering).
Great laptop, recommend it. |

I am former Tech call-center supervisor and I would recommend this computer to the average user The software package the it came with and loaded into the start-up menu is too much. I experienced way too many lock-ups upon boot. I have spent many hours cleaning programs out to my satisfaction. The main thing I really don't like is that the BATTERY DOESN'T EVEN LAST FOR A WHOLE DVD- the REMOTE CONTROL THAT IT CAME WITH DOES NOT WORK, and NEVER DID-I'm surprised! A refurb computer should be as good as new and perhaps have a NEW BATTERY and a remote that works. The power starts trickling away immediately. It says mediacenter That should mean media such as a DVD should be able to run through before the battery runs out. I may get an hour and a half of usage before it starts warning me that the battery is low even when I am not watching a DVD. I like to use photoshop and use it regularly- It is quick with the response after cleanup. I cannot find RAM!! |
