i have had this laptop for about 6 months now and it works fantastic. i did however pay 1000.00 dollars for from here 6 months ago so this is even a better price now. the only draw back is that this computer uses label flash and not light scribe. try to find the label flash disc's and you can not get them from this company, they don't sell them and neither does gateway. you have to buy them online and pay a huge price for them.i wish this was a light scribe instead, those disc's can be purchased any where. other then that, this machine rocks playing high end games no problem. |

I've always been leery of buying laptops from big name brands because they're usually way overpriced. However, after weeks of scouring the internet I could not find a better deal than this. I bought this laptop to play games and do some 3D rendering on the go. The video card was the biggest determining factor for this purchase as I am an avid gamer, and I have to say that I am impressed with the video performance. I play the newest games at full settings without frame rates getting choppy. I also do quite a bit of work in 3d software and game development kits and it runs flawlessly. Oh, and the 300gb hard drive is good as wel.
The only drawbacks to this system are that playing games makes it REALLY hot and drains the battery like crazy which is to be expected. However, if you're just surfing the internet the battery life lasts just over 4 hours.
Overall this is a fantastic computer for the price and performs like my friend's much more expensive rig. |

I have never had a laptop before so there was much research before buying this one. I am 100% pleased thus far and it could not be working better. I liked all the features for the money and the fact it has an extra bay for another hard drive if I desire to put one in. Powerful, quick and dependable. I am in college in an IT major so it will be put to very good use. |

I actually bought this back in June so about 6 months ago, and I'm still loving this pc, I got the early production model that had the 1920x1200 resolution screen, so i'm playing my games in HD! WoW, Command and Conquer, Sims 3, all play on this resolution without a problem. I have updated it from Windows Vista to Windows 7 x64 and saw a big difference, the only i had to do was install the graphics drivers for Win7, other then that everything else worked. Great laptop, I bought it elsewhere, but I paid $100 more at that time and it was on sale from $1300, so to get this laptop for under $1000? I kinda wish i waited now. You can't go wrong, buy it! 320GB 7200rpm HDD when most laptops use a slower 5400rpm hdd, with room for a second hard drive. Even if you don't need the power, it'll last you a long, long time and is a good investment. Kudos to Gateway for such a good laptop! |

I am a Technical Student at a University and I live on the laptop. It goes where I go and does everything I could ever want it to do. It is a wonderful laptop.
The reason I have a 3 star for the quality is due to the past several months, the screen would glitch and shut off. I have now found after EXTENSIVE testing that it is a memory problem and not a graphics problem that will only cost 70$ to fix.
The only other things that it could be missing is an Optics out for audio and a TV tuner... but for the price it is jam packed with a lot especially the 1Gb dedicated graphics works wonderfully (COD MW2 is beautiful).
I would absolutely recommend this computer to anyone looking to get one. Just not to hold it on the sides and not the center (center is where the memory is stored and pressure can hurt it).
Also, check and see if you can get it for less then 1000. |
