I thought this was a great deal, but you have to know what it's for. Netbooks are for mobility and always-on internet access. Tether it to a smartphone with an unlimited 3g data plan, hoo boy!
The 6-cell battery has a great lifespan. The keyboard is 85% the size of a regular keyboard, so it's not that much smaller, and I have big doofy hands. Out of box, the system has a decent start up speed from sleep.
I personally sprang for a RAM upgrade to 2gb; should cost you anywhere from 40 to 60 depending where you buy (of course I just bought it here). Upgrading the RAM on this particular model was a piece of cake; simply unscrew the memory cover plate, pop the clips, pull out the old, and then reverse with the new stuff.
The sound quality isn't so good, and streaming video doesn't play all that well. Understand the limitations of the netbook platform, and you will be pleased. Ask it to do the job of a full blown laptop or desktop, though, and you won't be. |

I have actually returned this item. I had freezing issues and had to do a full system restore 4 times within 30 days. It does run slow and I could get more out of a full laptop. |

When I got mine, price was about $320 for bundled package... Have had no problems with it yet, but use it less than I thought I would... At current price of over $350, I'd have never considered it... Netbooks, in general, are much TOO LIMITED in memory and features to EVER be HONESTLY WORTH as much as $350... I can currently buy a much more feature-rich standard LAPTOP computer... EVEN LOCALLY... For less than $350!!! (And since NEITHER the Laptop, NOR the NetBook can run off my truck's cigarette lighter plug WITHOUT using a power inverter to up the voltage to 110 Volt AC, only to drop it back down to around 13 volts DC... My regular LapTop computer works JUST AS WELL on the road as this NetBook does... But the regular Laptop has more features... ONLY REAL PLUS for the NetBook is the smaller screen size... Still won't fit on the dash, but it seems more stable and less likely to slide out of comfortable view or onto the floor than the laptop does. |

Excellent bundle value. The 6-cell battery pack lasts quite a long time. The netbook is a bit slow for my tastes but for an 11yr old to do research and type homework on its great. It also plays NetFlix full screen wonderfully. The speaker sound is pour and weak. Sound quality through headphones is good though. Don't expect to play any 3D games though. I would definitely buy it again for the use I bought it for. |
