Got this about 4 days ago from a retail store. Has been running great, quiet, features are excellent, very fast. The small form factor is very nice, the case is very attractive with a blue light streak on the top-right corner when the computer is on (the photos don't show this). The power button, eject button, media card reader, etc. are stylishly hidden. The eSata allows me to use my external HD much faster than USB. The HDMI also carries audio so you won't need an audio cable (you will need an HDMI monitor and a cable, of course -- but don't fall for the big cable scam, a $5 HDMI cable should work as well as a $120 one). Watching videos online is mind-blowing if you have a good monitor! After updating drivers, Windows 7 Experience index is 4.3 (Graphics 4.3, Processor 6.2, RAM 5.9, Gaming graphics 5.1, HD 5.9). Cons: only two internal expansion ports, maxed out at 4GB. Other than that, very happy with purchase! |

I have several Acer laptops which I love. It was our first and last Acer desktop. USB ports were defective (run off the motherboard), computer would go to sleep and not wake up, the computer would crash completely when I turned sleep mode off - it would allow me to move the mouse around but was completely un responsive unless I did a hard reboot.
I'm sure if I exchanged and got another, the potential for repeating these problems would not low, but it's not a risk I'm willing to take. I returned it and switched to another manufacturer.
I have heard Acer quality has gone downhill. My laptop is awesome so I don't know about that, but the desktop quality control was a huge issue for me personally.

I am not a real techno type of person but the whole family really likes this new computer. So far it has been able to handle everything that we have used it for. It seems a lot faster than the computers that we have had before. The Windows 7 also seems great. We still need more time to play with it before the final verdict can be made. |

A very nice upgrade from my Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop that has 2Gb memory and 160Gb hard drive and crummy Vista. Much, much faster!
It was necessary to buy a 4 pin to 4 pin firewire cable to transfer my movies to the computer because the standard 6 pin to 4 pin cable was not compatible.
I have only had the computer for about a month, so I cannot report on longevity, but, overall, a very nice buy! |
