Convert High Capacity SATA Hard Drive
and SATA Storage Device to operate with IDE Host Controller!
If you have problems converting A Serial ATA device, Ultra ATA-To-1 Port Serial ATA Converter is the solution. It features a serial, mini size, dangle board, ATA (Advanced Technology Attachment) port to connect to SATA devices, such as, hard drives, DVD-ROM, pr CD-ROM drives to a parallel ATA interface and make IDE Device to work with IDE host Controller. It supports Serial ATA transfer rate of up to 1.5 GB/s and supports Spread Spectrum Receiver. IDE (Integrated Drive Electronics) is a standard electronic interface used between a computer motherboard's data paths or bus and the computer's disk storage devices.
This Bridge Board is a converter solution for the Serial ATA Device that has a standard 22 pin SATA port which can interface to a Serial ATA Device like hard disk, CDROM, DVD, CD-RW, etc. Through the 40 pin IDE connector from the host, it accepts Parallel ATA (IDE) commands that decode the commands and convert them to a Serial ATA commands to the device. Response is processed and converted from the device through the SATA deciphered bus to a parallel ATA protocol and sent to the host. In addition, a Bridge board is included that can support HDD larger than 137GB.
It wont be complete without the SATA-to-Ultra ATA/133 Converter Board that supports the Serial ATA Generation 1that has a transfer rate of 1.5 Gb/s (150 MB/s) on the serial ATA side and is well-suited with Ultra ATA-133 on the parallel ATA side.

Purchased this to add a 1Tb sata drive to an old Shuttle XPC. Was delighted when the system saw and then formatted the drive. All of this was done with the cover off of the Shuttle.
Buttoned everything back up. Approx. 30 minutes later the drive was no longer visible to the system. Shut everything down, let the system cool a bit and the drive was visible on reboot. As the system warmed up (it's a small case) the drive disappeared again.
Returning this product as it seems to be overly heat sensitive and, therefore, not reliable. |

I tried to get this to work in my wifes computer with an IDE cable and a SATA optical drive and it would only read discs once in a while and would freeze up most of the time. The drive was fine i put the drive in my computer with sata cable hookup and drive is fine converter not worth the time on optical drive |

Haven't had much trouble with it. Installation was easy since I'm familiar with desktop hardware. It was not a problem to figure out ''which way it should go'' because of the design which is based off of the back of a hard drive. At times it seems that the transfer maybe a little slow but I'm willing to bet that's either a hard drive or memory issue. I was replacing a burned out IDE HD with a SATA 1TB HD using this board to connect the two. |

Not sure about the quality of the converter but I cannot say enough about the quality of Tiger Direct Staff. They are great!!
I went through three converts before I got one that worked. Tiger Direct was very polite and helpful. They simply replaced the item until I received one that worked. The third one lit up and my hard drive works great. I am satisfied! |
