Order the second unit, first unit has a trouble - has to exchange it with DLINK in September (a lot of time waiting for RMA generate and DLINK would not pay for the shipment back).
Be careful order in future - DLINK discontinue this model - this mean no more exchange or support. Second unit has no problem.

After getting the print queues properly named it was basically plug and play. It's hooked to an HP4500, HP8550 (which is a 'touchy' printer anyway) and a Brother 1240. No problems of any sort with any of them.
Works

This print server works fine with most printers if you have supported drivers for the operating system you are running. I have a Lexmark X2500 USB that will not work with any Windows version I have when plugged into the DP-300U. I also have a HP T45 parallel that works fine on XP but does not have drivers for Vista.
Couldn't set it up

I feel like a dope, because seemingly most everyone else has had such an easy time with this print server, but I could not get either an old (parallel) LaserJet 6P or a relatively newer DeskJet 5850 (USB) to work on this server. Tech support (talked to three people at D-Link) couldn't get it working either. My system is XP Pro SP3. Since I can't quite comment on Value, Features, or Quality, I'll rate them in the middle to give D-Link the benefit of the doubt.
The last time D-Link had a firmware update for this print server was over 5 years ago. It does not support a lot of the newer printers.
This item should be sold as surplus.

bought this to replace a failed dp-300. after a few hiccups with the ip address, got it working on the xp machines in the network...but couldn't find instructions for w98 (yes, i have one lonely holdout). googled a review that mentioned the very detailed instruction manual on the CD - best advice ever! working great so far!

Ive had this working for a little over a year, and had an ip address change, and i couldn't remember the password to change the ip settings... and theres no external reset button anywhere... the only way is to rma it in to d-link and they send you another one... :( talk about a pain in the butt! but it is a great little print server... as long as you dont forget the password...

Awesome little print server. Throw the disk away, web configuration is simple and straightforward. I used one at a small business in the area. Was able to configure the zebra printer to work with it easily.

Originally I had a Hawking HPS3P which after 2 years and multiple reinstalls, died completely. The D-Link unit installed almost effortlessly, the only quirk being that each printer must have a unique port name (page 7 of installation guide). The unit is currently working flawlessly driving two printers, a HP LaserJet 6L, and a HP DeskJet 670C. With any luck it will outlast the HPS3P!
