Did not install correctly on my XP SP3 system with the mini-CD or the driver that I downloaded from sabrent's website. If you are looking for a ESATA card, look elsewhere. |

This product is not worth the time and effort to get it to work. Spent way to much effort on it already. The disk it came with did not work. There was no manual and no information from Sabrent. Do not buy it! |

Drivers on the miniCD wouldn't install--miniCD apparently only partially readable. No documentation. Fortunately I found, by booting Linux, what kind of chip I had and found the drivers using Google "VT6421". (The VIA website is a total mess.) |

I bought this card after I upgraded to a motherboard that only had 1 IDE header for a hard drive. Since I have 2 and a floppy drive this was necessary and was an easy install. It was suggested by a Tiger Direct rep after I realized my error of buying a mobo without 2 headers. |

I have this Running 2 500GB disks in RAID 1 mirroring. It was a challenge to get it running though. In the box containing the Raid card was a sheet of paper identifying it as a VT-6421. I downloaded the latest update from Sabrent. I installed the update and then physically installed the board in the PCI slot. Everything appeared to be OK except that only one SATA port would work. (the one at the end of the board.) On the version of the board I have it has 4 jumper sets. The pins are 1-2-3. The board came with jimpers on the 1-2 pins. I moved all the jumpers to th 2-3 pins. Then both SATA ports worked and I then setup the drive in the RAID 1 Mirroring. (By the way, the VIA V-RAID Help file did not work. It would not displayed the HTML page. You have to drill into the unzipped files and find the help file. Right click on it and you will see that the file is BLOCKED. Change that to UNBLOCKED and reinstall the update.)
My network Backups are now mirrored! Cool! |
