I studied projectors from the definition of lumens to contrast, throw distance, aspect ratio etc for about 8 months before my purchase at the end of Feb. I wanted to be sure my tax return $ would go to the perfect bundle to upgrade from my 27'' tube TV. This projector was going head to head with the Mitsubishi HC1600, and I chose this one for these reasons...
The Sharp DT-510 has a very high contrast ratio at 4000:1, which is higher than most at this price range, providing high clarity. It also has a 5 speed color wheel (also best in its class).
It looks great, has a variety of plugin options and throws a beautiful 120'' picture. The screen I bought to go with it was 82'' and I hadn't anticipated having such a big picture, so I'm selling it so I can buy a new one of the correct size. That leaves me with a brightish orange wall to shine it on. Even with only 1000 lumens, I get a great picture, even with a little ambient light.
Buy it. Best under $1000 and WAY better than high end HDTVs. |

This is my first projector that I've owned. My wife just wanted me to just get a regular LCD.After pricing them they where way too much for the kind of home theater I've always wanted.This unit goes way beyond my expectations,projected at 100 inches.I play my video games and watch movies on my 360,I have a HD player and can not get over how beautiful my movies now look!!I have a taken the plung into movie like quality, I suggest you take it too. You will not be disapointed. |

Great buy,great projector...best value for its price loads of connections and good picture quality. I had an old Sharp LCD projector the size of a small 3-5 day travel bag that was retired from my job and I used it for 5 years (never say die)its still working today.
When looking to upgrade you wont find a better bang for your buck price to options projector around....1080p units are still way too pricey...this is one sweet machine. |

I didn't know much about projectors, but already having an HDTV, this looks as good or better as my HDTV for half the price! I would recommend this product to anyone with the space and ambient light control. |
