I purchased this modem for 2 reason; my modem from my ISP kept dropping out and to stop paying my ISP for a crappy modem. This modem has been great. It has not dropped communications once since hooked up and I have noticed a much steadier transfer rate when tested online using speedtest. In fact my upload speed increased from an average of 1.5 mbps to a steady 3 mbps. I have also had a much more consistent gameplay experience online when I play Halo or GOW2.

Great modem. Plug it in, call the provider, provide the MAC ID and off you go, Quality build with a metal chassis. So much better than the older 5100 series.

I bought this to replace a linksys modem that was dropping my signal from the cable company. Just hook it up, call the cable company to give them your new mac address and your running.

Internet was being a real pain with my old modem. Kept dropping the internet and having to be reset. Now I have yet to reset the new modem once!!! Set was easy I just had to contact cable company to have them put the new numbers in their system. Once that was done, it was off and running!!!

I've battled with my isp over the reliability and speed of my internet connection. I am an avid user and run a web and mail server as well as a small shop. My internet connection is my lifeline to the world in this rural area. I've tried several different cable modems and cable gateways and had occasional achieved some stability with my connection, though never the bandwidth I expected. Some extra cash allowed me to go top shelf and I have upgraded to this new modem and have had a rock solid connection ever since! One day my ISP may provide me speeds that this modem is capable of achieving, but for now I will settle with just staying on-line and enjoying a reliable connection! Best $100 I've spent in a while . . .
