Intel 9th Generation Core i9-9900K CPU (Coffee Lake, 8/16 Cores/Threads, 3.6GHz Base, 5GHz Boost, Socket LGA 1151 (300 Series), 95W TDP Desktop Processor), Model BX80684I99900K
The i9-9900K is a 9th generation Intel i9 CPU. It has 8 cores running at 3.6 GHz. Unlike the i7 and below CPUs from this generation, it supports hyperthreading, so there are 16 total threads.
The "K" designation means that this is an unlocked CPU, so it can be overclocked.
It requires a 300 series Socket LGA 1151 motherboard, and supports up to DDR4-2666 RAM.
In our CompUSA Processor Benchmark test, this scored 338, which is comfortably above the step-down i7-9700k (261). However, it was well behind the competitive Ryzen 9 3900X (597), as well as the Ryzen 7 3700X and 3800X (406 and 416).
It is hard for us to recommend this CPU, especially when the price is $500+, unless you insist on using Intel.
